By now, you’ve probably heard about Sea Moss Gel, a Caribbean Superfood but did you know all the amazing things it can do for your body?
What is Sea Moss?
Sea Moss has 92 of the 103 vitamins and minerals used in the human body. Also known as Irish moss or Irish sea moss, Sea Moss is a type of seaweed, specifically red algae. It is usually found on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and in areas of Europe and North America. Sea Moss is vegan and gluten-free.
Body Benefits
Great for your heart
Sea Moss has a higher fiber content than most vegetables. It can improve blood sugar control, lower blood pressure, help lower your cholesterol and reduce your risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
Great to lose weight
High-fiber foods like Sea Moss are filling foods, which means they may keep you from overeating. Soluble fiber absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance. This slows digestion by increasing the rate at which food moves through your digestive tract and delaying the rate at which your stomach empties its contents Research indicates that Sea Moss can influence faster fat metabolism
Great for your gut health
Your digestive system is full of bacteria, necessary for gut health. Balancing out those bacteria is an important element of your wellness. Algae, including Sea Moss, is a good source live bacteria.
Great for your immune system
One study showed Atlantic salmon that ate sea moss to have a more efficient immune response than salmon that did not have sea moss. A healthy gut is associated with a healthy immune system. Sea moss is also high in iron and antioxidants, which both contribute to immune health.
Great for your muscles
Sea moss is rich in an amino acid called taurine, which helps with muscle-building. During exercise you can get micro-tears that degrade your muscle, amino acids help rebuild muscle fixing those tears. Sea moss also has about 6 grams of protein per 100 grams, an exercise staple.
